Praying through Galatians.

1. Legalism: Not About Rules, but Relationship.

“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” — Galatians 5:1

Here, Paul reminds us that Christ didn’t set us free just so we could create a long list of “dos” and “don’ts.” God calls us to live from love, not out of an obligation to tick off religious boxes. Legalism sneaks in when we start to measure ourselves or others by these checklists instead of God’s grace.

Prayer: Lord, help me live from a heart of love, not from rules that hold me hostage to human approval. Help me to see others through the eyes of grace, not judgment. May I be a reminder that our faith is not a “rulebook” religion but a relationship with You. And, please, keep me humble enough to let others know they don’t need to meet my standards—only Yours.

2. License: Grace Is Not a Free Pass for Foolishness.

“You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.” — Galatians 5:13

Grace is amazing—so amazing, in fact, that we might think, Hey, I can do whatever I want! But Paul is quick to remind us that being “free in Christ” doesn’t mean a free pass for any behavior. Our freedom is a call to live out God’s character, not to stretch grace to cover what we know we shouldn’t be doing.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for grace, which covers even the messiest parts of me. But help me not take advantage of it as a license to do whatever I want. Remind me that my life speaks about You. Help me serve others with humility and make choices that honor You. (And maybe nudge me when I start taking “freedom” as an excuse for a little too much foolishness.)

3. Liberty: Living Fully, but Under God’s Wing.

“It is absolutely clear that God has called you to a free life. Just make sure that you don’t use this freedom as an excuse to do whatever you want and destroy your freedom. Rather, use your freedom to serve one another in love; that’s how freedom grows.” — Galatians 5:13 (MSG)

Liberty in Christ is one of life’s greatest gifts. It’s freedom that doesn’t come with shame but rather calls us higher. We’re called to live boldly and freely, yet within the beautiful boundary of God’s will and Spirit. Liberty means being free in His presence, not escaping it.

Prayer: Father, thank You for the gift of true freedom in Christ. Help me live fully but always under Your loving guidance. May my freedom be a light, not just for me, but for those around me, showing them what it means to walk in love, joy, and peace. Keep me close to Your heart, even as I enjoy the freedom You’ve given. Let my life show others that the real adventure is found in following You.

Let’s hold on and enjoy the freedom of knowing we’re fully known, fully forgiven, and fully loved!
