How to be offensive

 EPHESIANS 6:17

TAKE THE HELMET OF SALVATION AND THE SWORD OF THE SPIRIT, WHICH IS THE WORD OF GOD.


Today, I had the privilege of attending a fellowship where the speaker shed light on this powerful text. He reminded us that the SWORD OF THE SPIRIT, WHICH IS THE WORD OF GOD, IS THE ONLY PIECE OF THE ARMOR OF GOD SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED FOR OFFENSE. IT’S NOT JUST FOR DEFENSE. Yet, sadly, many believers treat it casually, neglecting the deep study and meditation required to wield this sword effectively.


The result? WE HAVE A GENERATION OF DEFENSIVE CHRISTIANS, COZY AND COMFORTABLE, ADDING LITTLE TO THE ADVANCEMENT OF GOD'S KINGDOM. We sit on the sidelines, avoiding confrontation, not posing any real threat to the kingdom of darkness.


But let's be clear—NO KING EVER LEADS AN ARMY INTO BATTLE WITH THE INTENTION OF PLAYING DEFENSE ALONE. No soldier is called just to survive; they’re called to ADVANCE! WE MUST TAKE THE STUDY OF GOD’S WORD MORE SERIOUSLY. Without the offensive use of Scripture, we’re limiting ourselves to mere survival in spiritual warfare, rather than triumphantly overcoming the enemy.



IT'S TIME TO RISE UP AND ARM OURSELVES WITH THE POWER OF THE WORD. Let’s become OFFENSIVE WARRIORS, boldly cutting through the lies and schemes of the enemy with the truth of God’s Word. Let us remember: THE WORD ISN’T JUST FOR DEFENSE, IT’S MEANT TO PUSH FORWARD, TO TAKE TERRITORY FOR THE KINGDOM OF GOD. LET’S STOP BEING COZY CHRISTIANS AND START BEING KINGDOM CONQUERORS!

Praying for the physically ill.

Whenever we have a loved one not feeling well, admitted in hospital or maybe even in a critical condition according to the medics, prayer can become hard. We get to a point of prayer fatigue (I first heard that term from a friend called Sarah) and if things are not handled well, we may end up praying amiss as James describes it. I have highlighted the WE sections to emphasize the value of prayer of unity. However, if you're praying while alone, you still are not alone. Believers pray in the company of other believers seen or unseen. That's why our Lord taught us to pray "our father" and not my father. We're never alone in the place of prayer.
