Have you started?

Reading the Bible can be a daunting task,  

Why would the believers dare to ask?

A poem.

Genesis and Exodus sound like fun,  

Leviticus and Numbers leave me undone.  

Deuteronomy seems like something from the past,  

Comes nowhere near reigniting this quest.  

To go on rhyming I am able,  

But have you started reading your Bible?

Joshua and Judges bring the action back to life,  

Ruth highlights a woman who saw the light.  

1&2 Samuel make me think twice,  

Oh, how the Kings weren’t always wise.

1&2 Kings tell of thrones rising and falling,  

1&2 Chronicles keep the records enthralling.  

Ezra and Nehemiah rebuild with great might,  

While Esther stands firm for what is right.

Job asks questions both heavy and deep,  

Psalms sings praises that make my heart leap.  

Proverbs brings wisdom in phrases so tight,  

Ecclesiastes wonders if all is right.

Song of Solomon speaks of love so divine,  

Isaiah's prophecies stretch through time.  

Jeremiah weeps for a nation in pain,  

Lamentations echoes the sorrow again.

Ezekiel sees visions, so wild yet true,  

Daniel stands firm in the lion’s view.  

Hosea loves even when betrayed,  

Joel warns of the judgment delayed.

Amos and Obadiah call out the pride,  

Jonah ran off, but God turned the tide.  

Micah declares what the Lord does require,  

Nahum sees judgment and God's burning fire.

Habakkuk wrestles with questions so bold,  

Zephaniah speaks of a judgment foretold.  

Haggai calls for the temple’s repair,  

Zechariah’s visions are quite rare.

Malachi warns of hearts grown cold,  

Matthew tells how Christ’s birth was foretold.  

Mark moves fast with miracles grand,  

Luke gives details with a careful hand.

John proclaims of the Word made flesh,  

Acts records how the church was fresh.  

Romans teaches of faith so free,  

1&2 Corinthians challenge me.

Galatians breaks the chains of the law,  

Ephesians stands in spiritual awe.  

Philippians rejoices in prison’s night,  

Colossians shows Christ in glorious light.

1&2 Thessalonians speak of His return,  

1&2 Timothy help leaders to learn.  

Titus instructs how a church should be,  

Philemon pleads for a slave set free.

Hebrews calls us to faith that’s real,  

James reminds us to do, not just feel.  

1&2 Peter give wisdom to stand,  

1,2,3 John hold love in their hand.

Jude warns of wolves in disguise,  

Revelation unveils the King in the skies.  

From Genesis through to the end,  

This book remains our truest friend.

Inheritance wasters

Having lived in a village setup for almost two years now, I’ve had the rare privilege of not just hearing but also seeing  inheritance stories—some that end in peace and others that would make you cry.   But nothing beats the story in scripture about a certain guardian who toiled for years to secure his two children, only for the plot to take a " Wacha tu " turn. The younger son boldly demanded his share, squandered it on what we’d now call “soft life gone wrong,” and returned home looking like he’d lost a wrestling match with life. Meanwhile, the elder son lived in his father’s house but with the attitude of a squatter—completely unaware that the remaining property was his (Luke 15:11-32).   Now, who’s to blame here?
